The Design Matters booth is taking a new approach to the way its partners earn money selling product at Gen Con. Rather than the standard “every man for himself” style of group selling, Design Matters uses a Profit Sharing Model.
Basically, all that means is that at the end of the day, the money that the Design Matters booth takes in is divided evenly amongst the six partners regardless of the specific games sold.
The reason for doing this is simple and singular. In taking the individual designer’s personal investment out of selling their own games, the booth staff will be unbiased in its ability to find the RIGHT game for the individual customer. By removing the incentive for a designer to sell more copies of his own work, that designer will be better able to focus on selling games that meet individual needs and tastes. Hopefully, this will lead us to selling more games across the board while leaving our customers feeling they had a positive buying experience.
